The Vrdnik Tower above the forests of Fruška Gora

Where to stay on Fruška Gora

Three bases, three moods: a thermal spa in the forest, a baroque wine town, or a city on the Danube.

Because Fruška Gora is compact, you only need one base — the question is what you want outside your window. Vrdnik puts you on the mountain itself, with thermal pools and trails. Sremski Karlovci gives you baroque streets and wine cellars on foot. Novi Sad offers the widest choice, the best restaurants and the easiest transport.

Novi Sad First-timers, car-free trips, food and culture Waking up in nature Wide range; soars in EXIT week

Booking tips

  • Spa weekends sell out. In Vrdnik, book Friday and Saturday nights well ahead, especially in autumn and winter; Sunday to Thursday is quieter and cheaper.
  • Mind the festival calendar. EXIT (July) in Novi Sad and the grape harvest festival (late September) in Karlovci fill every bed.
  • Check what the spa includes. Pool access is usually part of the room rate; treatments and some sauna zones are extra.
  • Without a car, choose Novi Sad or Karlovci and use buses and day tours.
  • Other options: guesthouses and vineyard cottages (vikendice) in Irig, Banoštor and the villages are plentiful; search the wider area for a rural stay.

Plan your day in the hills

Monasteries, wine cellars and a fortress — in one day

Fruška Gora sits between Belgrade and Novi Sad, but its sights are scattered and buses are thin. A guided day trip strings together the monasteries, Sremski Karlovci and a bermet tasting without the logistics.
